- 1 Applicator.
- 1 100 ml bottle of lubricant (approximately 40 weeks of supply).
- 1 Booklet.
The thought of maintaining your treadmill can seem like a hassle however if done properly this can increase the life expectancy of your running machine.
If regularly maintained a treadmill is less likely to cost you unnecessary costs for part failures in the future.
When should you tension your running belt?
Tensioning the running belt is a completely normal process which many users neglect. If while using your treadmill you feel as if the running belt is sticking to the deck this is most likely a tensioning issue. Warning do not over tightened your belt as this may reduce the longevity and damage other parts of the treadmill.
How to tension your running belt:
Start the treadmill until it reaches a speed of 2.5 mph or 4 km/h. Insert your allen key into the allen head bolts at the rear of the treadmill. Turn the allen key a quarter turn on each side. Then test to see if the slipping has stopped. If not continue until no further slipping occurs. You can contact chandler sports if you need any advice. Under no circumstances should you turn the bolt more than a quarter turn at any one time.
The next step is re-lubrication of the running belt this should be done about once a month.
The most common question is do I need to re-lubricate?
The simple answer to this is yes. The lubrication reduces the friction caused between the running belt and the deck. This increases the longevity of your belt and deck. As well as reducing the wear and tear on other parts within the machine.
If the friction between the running belt and deck increases then this can have a knock on effect making the motor work harder to get the same result. This will then also increase the wear and tear on the drive belt.
Most treadmills come with their running belts pre-lubricated it is still best to lubricate your treadmill every month. If you are using your treadmill at high intensity it may be prudent to lubricate it every 2 weeks to keep the friction to a minimum.
Treadmill Lubrication Application:
Step 1 – Place tube applicator onto tip of syringe. Remove lid from silicone bottle and insert applicator. Withdraw 10 ml of lubricant.
Step 2 – While holding the syringe in 1 hand use the other hand to left the running belt. Squeeze all 10 ml of lubricant into the middle of the deck.
Step 3 – Start the treadmill and walk on it for one or two minutes. This will spread the lubricant over the whole deck and belt.
